Club Championship

The club championship is the flagship event in any tennis or padel club's calendar. It crowns official champions in multiple categories - typically Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles - and often includes age-group and handicap divisions. The format and rules are usually set by the club committee, and the event can run as a weekend knockout, a season-long league, or a combination of both.

• Entries are taken across multiple categories (singles, doubles, mixed, age groups, handicap divisions).
• The main event is typically a seeded single elimination bracket with a consolation draw.
• Some clubs use a group stage + knockout format for larger entries.
• Matches are usually best of 3 full sets (as the most prestigious club event, full-length matches are fitting).
• The finals are often scheduled on a dedicated "Finals Day" with spectators, food, and an awards ceremony.
• A club handicap championship can run alongside, using the same players but with handicap adjustments.

1. Set the dates well in advance (6-8 weeks minimum). Book Finals Day as a tentpole club event.
2. Open entries and set a clear deadline. Promote across all club channels.
3. Seed all draws using club ratings, WTN, or coach input.
4. Stagger the schedule. Early rounds can be play-by-deadline over several weeks. Quarter-finals onward should be scheduled on specific dates.
5. Run consolation draws alongside the main event to keep eliminated players engaged.
6. Plan Finals Day: schedule matches so spectators can watch, arrange catering, and prepare trophies/prizes.
7. Record and celebrate champions. Display winners on an honours board at the club.
