Adding Doubles Partners
Pair up with a partner for doubles draws -- invite a registered player or add a guest.
Overview
When you register for a doubles draw, you need a partner before matches can be scheduled. ClubChamps gives you two ways to form a partnership:
- Invite a registered player -- Choose someone already registered in the same doubles draw. They receive a request and must accept before the partnership is confirmed.
- Add a guest player -- Select a guest (someone without a ClubChamps account). The partnership is created immediately with no acceptance needed.
Once a partnership is confirmed, a doubles match entry is created automatically and you are ready to play.
Register first
You must be registered for a doubles draw before you can add a partner. If you have not registered yet, see Registering.
Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Open the Add Partner drawer
Navigate to your tournament page and find the doubles draw you are registered for. Click the Add Partner button to open the partner drawer. The drawer shows a list of available players in the same draw who do not already have a partner.
Choose your partner type
You will see two types of players in the list:
- Registered players -- Players with a ClubChamps account who are registered in the same draw. Their name and profile details are shown.
- Guest players -- Players added by the organiser who do not have a ClubChamps account. They are labelled as guests.
Select the player you want to partner with and confirm your choice.
Guest partners are instant
When you select a guest player, the partnership is created immediately. Guest players do not need to accept because they do not have an account to respond from.
Wait for acceptance (registered players)
If you invited a registered player, ClubChamps sends them a partner request notification. Your request is now pending.
You can check the status of your request from the tournament page. While waiting:
- The invited player sees your request in their notifications
- You cannot send another request for the same draw until this one is resolved
- If the player declines, you are notified and can send a new request to someone else
Respond to incoming requests
If another player sends you a partner request, you will receive a notification. Open it to see who is asking and for which draw, then choose:
- Accept -- Creates the partnership and a doubles match entry. You are paired up and ready to play.
- Decline -- Clears the request and notifies the other player. They can then invite someone else.
You can also respond from the dedicated accept-partner page linked in the notification.
Confirm your partnership
Once both players have agreed (or you selected a guest), the partnership is confirmed:
- Both registrations are linked in the system
- A doubles match entry is created for the draw
- You can see your partner's name on the tournament page next to the draw
Common Scenarios
- Partner already taken -- If the player you wanted has already partnered with someone else, they will not appear in your available list. Choose a different player.
- Declined request -- If your request is declined, you receive a notification. Open the Add Partner drawer again and pick a new partner.
- Multiple doubles draws -- If you are registered for more than one doubles draw (e.g. Mixed Doubles and Men's Doubles), you need a separate partner for each.
- Withdrawal -- If your partner withdraws from the tournament, the partnership is removed and you need to find a new partner.
